Cesky Krumlov to Cesky Budejovice & Trebon

Just a wee bus trip up the road to a much bigger place. Cesky B, the home of Budweiser, is a city a bit smaller than Hamilton, but the heart of it is just a small town like many of the others. The obligatory town square with fountain (‘Samson’) was all very pretty. We’re in a 16th c. burger’s house just off the street, but inside you’d think you were in any old Best Western. Comfortable and bland. Just what the doctor ordered.
Main reason to come here was for the day trips – first up was Trebon, which was, (ahem), tres bon. This place a 14th c town not unlike Telc. However, since we are getting sick of all the history, we race through the place, round the preserved walls and the Regent Brewery (built 13 hundred and something and still going) and then do a 12km walk around the pond. Nice to get out in the open again. Going mostly thru forest and round ‘ponds’ which have been traditionally used for fish farming since whenever. The carp grown here apparently are used for the Christmas dinner all over Czech. Reckon we walked nearly 20km today, getting to where we were going, and then around the pond. It’s all pretty routine now, so we must be getting fit or something! Body shapes seem remarkably unchanged however! It’s a nice time of year to travel. Although the crowds are starting to get bigger, they’re still pretty small and there’s space.
